About the Event
On April 18th, 2009, the Middletown community lost the Billotti-Wood family to an unimaginable tragedy. Francie Billotti-Wood, who as a mother, avid volunteer, and lover of her Middletown Valley family made a huge impact not only on her immediate friends and family, but also on the many organizations of which she so proudly contributed.
Throughout our grieving process, two things remained crystal clear: that Francie made a tremendous impact on the people who knew her, and that she was a positive person who deserved to be remembered for the way she lived, not the way she died.
Shortly before her death, Francie rediscovered her passion for running and started training for marathons with her family. In an effort to celebrate and remember our dear friend and her family, members of the Middletown community have come together to organize the "Francie's Family 5K Fun Run/Walk"
We have scheduled this event for March 20, 2010, and will begin and end in the Middletown Park (behind the High School) at the Pavilion area next to the concession stand.
The primary goal of Francie's Family 5K is not to raise money; it is to come together as a community and remember Francie and her family. However, if you should want to donate to the cause, any remaining proceeds after expenses have been paid will go toward playground equipment in Memorial Park off of Route 17 in Middletown, MD.
