Fundraising Update
posted 02-Aug-2010 by dan

Many have contacted us to get an update about the funds raised from the 5K:

  • Approval has been granted by the town of Middletown to place the playground in the Memorial Park.

  • A sign is being designed using the graphics from the 5K to identify the play area as made possible by the proceeds of the 5K in loving memory of the children (sign is still a draft form and will be posted when finalized)

  • We plan to create a separate area which will contain a piece of equipment representing each of the children and a bench for parents to sit and watch their children play; depending on the final boundary needed for each piece of equipment, the hope is to put it between the swings and pavilion in the shade of the oak trees.

  • We will be submitting several options to the company that the town uses for play equipment (www.playspec.com)

  • We hope to have decisions made and the playground installed the Fall of 2010.

  • We made $10,626.08 on the 5K – most of which will be used to purchase the playground equipment. Any proceeds not spent on the equipment will go toward expenses for the 2011 event. Thank you so much for the support!

  • The date has been set for next year's event – Saturday, March 19, 2011 – we hope you can join us!

  • Please check back for updates throughout the next 9 months!

Thank you to ALL of our sponsors, volunteers and participants for making the 1st ever ‘Francie’s Family 5K Fun Run/Walk’ a huge success! With 150 volunteers and 840 participants, we are excited that the cause and celebration was so well attended! We will be deciding in the near future whether this event will become an annual celebration, and we will be sure to utilize this site to communicate any and all updates to everyone.

Because of the large volume of registrants the morning of the race (almost 300!), we needed some extra time to ensure that we had everyone’s information entered accurately, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate this process for the first time for this event!

Race results have been posted at the following location:
